Hurzeler Urges Brighton to Make Home Stadium a Fortress Against Everton
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has praised the team's away supporters and is now targeting a home win against Everton to reward their loyalty.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has expressed his satisfaction with the decision to loan out young players, citing the importance of game time for their development. When asked about Julio Enciso's move to Ipswich Town, Hurzeler said, “Important we take care of the development of young players. You need to give them the right game time.” This approach demonstrates Hurzeler's commitment to nurturing the talents of his young players.
Hurzeler was also questioned about the future of striker Evan Ferguson, who has been listed for a potential loan move this winter. The German head coach remained non-committal, simply stating “Let's see what happens.” This response suggests that Ferguson's situation is still being assessed, and a decision has yet to be made.
Despite the potential departures of some players, Hurzeler expressed overall satisfaction with his current squad. When asked if he was happy with his team, he responded positively, saying “Suffering a little bit (in defense) in general I am happy with the squad for sure.” This confidence in his players will be crucial as Brighton prepares to face Everton this weekend.
The upcoming match against Everton will also see Hurzeler, the youngest manager in the league, pitted against one of the oldest, David Moyes. This intriguing matchup will provide an interesting contrast in styles and experience, as Hurzeler seeks to outmaneuver his veteran counterpart.
Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has praised the team's away supporters, who have played a significant role in the team's 9th place position in the Premier League this season. Hurzeler expressed his desire to reward the fans with a home win, saying “It's a big, big desire to win at home.” He acknowledged that it has been a long time since the team has given their fans the feeling of winning at their own stadium, and emphasized the importance of delivering a victory for the supporters. “I think it's now a long time ago where we give our fans this feeling of winning in our own stadium and I think it's our responsibility to give them that because their support, especially in away games, is amazing.”
Hurzeler highlighted the dedication and loyalty of the away supporters, who travel long distances and spend significant amounts of money to cheer on the team. “They are so loud, they are so supportive. They spend a lot of time during the weekend to travel to the games. They spend a lot of money so I think it's our responsibility to give them something back and now we're playing at home.” He emphasized the importance of making the home stadium a fortress, saying “Normally it should be our castle but at the moment we weren't able to make this our castle. Now it's our responsibility to make this stadium our castle.”
Hurzeler also stressed the importance of giving the supporters what they deserve, saying “I think it's also important to give the supporters what they need and what they deserve.” He expressed his determination to deliver a win for the fans and make the home stadium a place where the team can consistently perform well.
In terms of team news, Hurzeler is hopeful that 19-year-old Jack Hinshelwood will be available to face Everton. “I'm quite positive he will be,” he said. However, Matt O'Riley is a doubt due to a minor knock. Hurzeler described the issue as “a small knee issue. He had a hit in his knee and it's painful but it's just a time thing so, if he's able to overcome the pain and if he can go through this pain, we will see the next days.”
