The Cincinnati Bengals have hired Jerry Montgomery as defensive line coach/run game coordinator and Mike Hodges as linebackers coach, bolstering their defensive coaching staff.

The Cincinnati Bengals have bolstered their defensive coaching staff with the hiring of Jerry Montgomery and Mike Hodges. Montgomery, 45, will serve as the team's defensive line coach and run game coordinator, while Hodges, 38, will take on the role of linebackers coach. The appointments come on the heels of the team hiring Al Golden as their new defensive coordinator just last week.

Montgomery brings a wealth of experience to the Bengals, having spent nine years with the Green Bay Packers in various roles, including defensive front assistant coach, defensive line coach, and run game coordinator. Most recently, Montgomery was with the New England Patriots, but the team's new head coach, Mike Vrabel, is restructuring the coaching staff, leading to Montgomery's departure.

Hodges, a former linebacker at the Air Force and Texas A&M, joins the Bengals after spending eight years with the New Orleans Saints as a defensive assistant and linebackers coach. His expertise will be invaluable in shaping the Bengals' linebacking corps. The Bengals' defence ranked 25th in the league last season, highlighting the need for a revamped system, which these new hires aim to provide.
