Celtic captain Callum McGregor expressed his hope that Kyogo Furuhashi would remain at the Scottish club, despite ongoing transfer rumors linking the Japanese striker to Rennes in France. McGregor's comments came on the heels of Furuhashi's impressive performance in Celtic's 1-0 win over Young Boys, which secured the team's spot in the Champions League play-offs.

Furuhashi, who celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday, had three goals disallowed in the match against Young Boys. McGregor praised his teammate's exceptional skills, saying, “He's a top player. Again, you see his quality, his movement, the way he sets the tone for the team.”

McGregor emphasized the importance of retaining Celtic's top players, including Furuhashi. “All our good players, we want to keep them for as long as we can, and generally, when there's speculation, then people have done well, so we want that as well,” he noted. McGregor also acknowledged that transfer rumors often accompany success, stating, “It gets people talking about Celtic and the players that we've got, so I'm sure the club will do everything they can to keep him because he's a top player and a top person as well.”
