Atalanta Come from Behind to Defeat Como 2-1
Atalanta ended their winless streak with a 2-1 victory over Como, as Mateo Retegui's brace proved decisive in the Serie A match.
Atalanta fought back from a goal down to secure a 2-1 victory over Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia, avenging their shock defeat in the reverse fixture earlier this season. A brace from Mateo Retegui proved decisive, as Atalanta denied Como the chance to record their first top-flight double over the Bergamo-based side since the 1949/50 season.
Como, seeking to record back-to-back wins for only the second time this season, started the game brightly and nearly took the lead as early as the fourth minute. Nico Paz's header from Alieu Fadera's cross forced Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi into a crucial save. The hosts continued to threaten, with Yannik Engelhardt's glancing header also kept out by Carnesecchi's brilliance 10 minutes later.
Como's persistence eventually paid off, however, as they took a deserved lead just past the half-hour mark. Paz and Fadera combined once more, with the former unleashing a stunning first-time strike from just inside the box into the top-left corner for his fifth goal of the campaign. The hosts maintained their dominance in the lead-up to halftime but were unable to create any further clear-cut opportunities to test Carnesecchi.
Despite trailing at the break, Atalanta staged a second-half comeback, with Retegui's brace turning the game in their favor. The victory marked a significant turnaround for Atalanta, who had been seeking to avenge their earlier defeat to Como.

Atalanta posed a greater threat in the opening minutes of the second half than they did in the entirety of the first half. Just two minutes after the restart, Giorgio Scalvini went close to equalizing, meeting Juan Cuadrado's cross with an effort that was saved in the top-right corner.
Gian Piero Gasperini's side eventually managed to level the score with just under an hour played. Mateo Retegui, the renowned danger man, netted his 15th league goal of the season by turning Marco Brescianini's cross into the bottom-right corner with a fantastic left-footed volley.
Retegui continued to make his presence felt, giving the visitors the lead with 20 minutes left to play. He combined with Brescianini once again, showcasing his composure as he controlled the ball inside the area before dispatching his shot into the bottom-right corner. This goal marked Retegui's second of the match, securing a crucial victory for Atalanta.
Atalanta managed to see the game out, securing three points in Serie A after four matches without a win. This victory brings a welcome end to their winless streak, which had consisted of three draws and one loss. Meanwhile, Como remains just three points adrift of the bottom three ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures.
