Virgil van Dijk Hopes Mohamed Salah Will Have His Best Season Yet

Virgil van Dijk has praised Mohamed Salah's incredible form, hoping the Egyptian forward will have his best season yet for Liverpool.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has revealed that there is “no deadline” for resolving his contract situation, despite his current deal expiring at the end of the season. The 33-year-old Netherlands international has been in talks with the club, but a new agreement has yet to be reached.

As the clock ticks down, Van Dijk's future at Anfield remains uncertain. From January 1st, he will be free to negotiate with overseas clubs, potentially paving the way for a summer departure. However, Van Dijk's latest comments suggest that he is not feeling pressured to make a decision, leaving the door open for a potential extension with Liverpool.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation, it is believed that Virgil van Dijk's preference is to extend his stay at Anfield. The Dutch defender has adopted a calm and patient approach, stating that “there is no deadline at all” for resolving his contract situation. When asked about a potential update, Van Dijk simply replied, “No.”

Van Dijk is one of three key players at Liverpool whose contracts are entering their final six months. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are the other two players in a similar situation. Meanwhile, Salah continued to make headlines on the pitch, scoring twice in Liverpool's 6-3 thrashing of Tottenham on Sunday. The Egyptian forward moved up to fourth place on Liverpool's all-time list of scorers, taking his tally to 229 goals.

Mohamed Salah's incredible form continues to drive Liverpool's success, with the Egypt international having already scored 18 goals this season, including 15 in the Premier League. He has also provided 15 assists, showcasing his impressive all-around ability. Salah's remarkable debut season for Liverpool in 2017/18 saw him score 44 goals in all competitions, and he is on track to potentially surpass that tally this campaign.

Virgil van Dijk has praised Salah's incredible impact, expressing his hope that the 32-year-old forward can enjoy his best season yet for the club. “The numbers speak for themselves,” Van Dijk said. “He's a very special athlete. He's done amazingly for the club and hopefully he can play his best season ever for the club, stay important with his goals and assists and be clinical.” With Liverpool currently sitting four points clear at the top of the Premier League, Salah's continued brilliance will be crucial to their title aspirations.

“He is a professional. We've been there, he's been there, so onto the next (game). And next season? I don't know.”
