Valencia Sack Manager Ruben Baraja Amid Relegation Fears

Valencia has sacked manager Ruben Baraja after a dismal start to the season. The LaLiga club hopes to reverse their fortunes and avoid relegation.

Valencia has parted ways with manager Ruben Baraja, the LaLiga club announced on Monday, in response to the team's underwhelming start to the season. Currently lingering in the relegation zone, Valencia's struggles have prompted the club to seek a change in leadership.

Ruben Baraja, a former Valencia player, took the reins in February 2023, when the club was also battling relegation. He successfully guided the team to safety and followed that up with a ninth-place finish last season. However, Valencia's poor form towards the end of the previous campaign has persisted into the current season, ultimately leading to Baraja's dismissal.

Valencia has announced the dismissal of manager Ruben Baraja, citing the need to reverse the team's poor run of form. In a statement, the club explained: “The dynamic of results during this season has required a decision that has been very difficult to make, but which aims to reverse the situation and achieve better results.”

The club's decision comes after a dismal run of results, which saw Valencia fail to win any of their final seven games last season. This season has been equally disappointing, with the team suffering three losses at the outset and managing only two wins in 17 league games. As a result, Valencia finds itself second from bottom in the standings with 12 points, four points adrift of the safety zone, although they do have a game in hand. The team's next match is a daunting one, as they host second-placed Real Madrid on January 3rd in a rescheduled fixture that was originally postponed due to flooding last month.
