Palmer Praises Growing Partnership with Jackson at Chelsea
Cole Palmer praises his growing partnership with Nicolas Jackson at Chelsea, citing their improving understanding on the pitch and daily communication off it.
Chelsea midfielder Cole Palmer has expressed his delight at the growing understanding between himself and striker Nicolas Jackson. The duo's budding partnership was on full display during Chelsea's 3-0 home victory over Aston Villa in the Premier League on Sunday, with both Palmer and Jackson finding the back of the net.
The win has propelled Chelsea to 25 points from 13 games, level with Arsenal, but still nine points behind league leaders Liverpool. As the season progresses, the partnership between Palmer and Jackson will be crucial in Chelsea's pursuit of success.
Senegal international Nicolas Jackson has taken time to settle into his role at Chelsea since joining the club last season. However, he has found his footing in the current campaign, forming a potent partnership with midfielder Cole Palmer. Both Jackson and Palmer have already scored eight league goals each, showcasing their growing chemistry on the pitch.
Palmer attributes their success to the strong bond they have developed off the pitch. “Me and Nico work well together,” Palmer told the club website. “We speak to each other every day and we message each other after games. We are trying to work on our relationship to help us on the pitch and hopefully that work is showing.”
Chelsea's improved consistency in the league this season has positioned them as strong contenders for a Champions League spot. Having finished sixth last season, the team has shown significant growth, with their only losses coming against Manchester City and Liverpool. Midfielder Cole Palmer believes that a top-four finish is within their grasp, provided they maintain their winning momentum.
“It's too early (to predict this season),” Palmer cautioned. “If we keep winning then we will be near the top four.” However, Palmer also acknowledged the challenges posed by more established teams, citing the longevity of their squads as a key factor. “But like the gaffer said Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal have been together for more than five years, whereas we've only been together for a season. We just want to keep going and winning the games,” Palmer explained. Chelsea's next two fixtures will see them travel to Southampton in midweek, followed by a clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
