Manchester United's Mason Mount Out for 'Long Time' with Injury
Manchester United has been dealt a blow with Mason Mount's injury, but Marcus Rashford's return to the squad provides a timely boost ahead of the Bournemouth match.
Mason Mount's injury-plagued season has taken another blow, with the Manchester United midfielder facing an extended period on the sidelines. The 25-year-old has struggled to make a significant impact at Old Trafford since joining from Chelsea in July last year.
Mount's time at Manchester United has been marred by a loss of form and persistent injury issues. He has made just 32 appearances for the club, scoring a single goal, and has started only nine Premier League games. This latest setback will only add to the frustration for both Mount and United manager Ruben Amorim.
According to Amorim, Mount is expected to be out for “several weeks” after being forced off early in the recent Manchester derby, which United won 2-1. This latest injury will be a significant blow to Mount's hopes of establishing himself as a key player at Old Trafford.
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Mason Mount's injury layoff will be an extended one. When asked about the midfielder's expected return date, Amorim replied, “I don't know the exact date, but it's going to be for a long time.” He added matter-of-factly, “And that's it. It's part of football and we continue.”
Despite the setback, Amorim expressed his commitment to supporting Mount during his recovery. The former Sporting Lisbon boss has been impressed with Mount's recent performances and is eager to help him regain his form.
“What I can do is to help Mase, to teach him how to play our game when he's recovering. Try to use that time for him to think in different things,” he said.
“And then I think the worst part is that we don't have time to train like we should do when you are recovering from a lot of injuries.
“So we are always travelling, we have games, training, we don't have all the team together. And this is really hard to recreate the game before they come to the game.”
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim confirmed that Marcus Rashford will be available for selection in Sunday's home match against Bournemouth. Rashford had been absent from the squad for the recent matches against Manchester City and Tottenham in the League Cup quarter-finals.
Amorim emphasized that Rashford's absence was not due to disciplinary reasons. This clarification comes after Rashford, 27, expressed his desire for a "new challenge" in a recent interview, sparking speculation about his future at Old Trafford.
Despite the ongoing challenges, Amorim remains optimistic about Manchester United's progress under his leadership. Although the team currently sits 13th in the Premier League, Amorim believes they are moving in the right direction, having taken over from the sacked Erik ten Hag last month.
“I think we are improving near the opponent's box,” he said. “We had some games that we are near the box, but without a real threat. You could see different things (against Tottenham).
“You can see that we can shoot. We are near the goal and you feel it, you really feel it. I think it's a good thing in our team. I feel that our team is faster, are pressing more.
“The physicality is improving, the understanding of the game and you can see it by the controlling of the game.”
