Guardiola Determined to Restore Manchester City to Former Glory

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has vowed to turn around the team's slumping form, insisting he will not give up on the season.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reflected on his team's dismal recent form, admitting that it has given him a newfound appreciation for their past successes. During a remarkable run, City won four consecutive Premier League titles, an unprecedented achievement in the league's history. Guardiola's realization has come amidst a shocking slump in form, the worst stretch of his illustrious managerial career.

Manchester City's underwhelming performance continued with a 1-1 draw against Everton at home on Boxing Day. This result left City in a disappointing seventh place in the Premier League standings, trailing the top four by five points and leaders Liverpool by a significant 14 points, with the Reds also holding a game in hand. City's struggles have been evident, with only one win in their last 13 games across all competitions.

“That makes me remember how good was the past,” he said after Thursday's match. “That's the truth, that has made me realise now what we have done, because sometimes you have injuries, and how many years we were incredibly, incredibly consistent.

“But, yeah, you expect a little bit down. We didn't expect (this) much, and the main reason is having seven, eight important injured players.

“But I see the team, the spirit in training, how focused they are. And we saw (progress in Saturday's) game, we saw it, but unfortunately we could not get the result that we wanted.”

Pep Guardola warned that Manchester City are in danger of failing to qualify for the Champions League this season, a stunning reversal of fortunes for the reigning champions.

Pep Guardiola was asked if Manchester City's recent slump had increased his determination to please the fans and stakeholders. However, he shook his head, suggesting that this motivation has been inherent throughout his career. “It has been since the arrival of my career as a football player, as a manager, I think every one of us in our job wants to please the people, we want to do good our jobs. That is undeniable. That is not a question mark, I would say.”

As Manchester City aim to reverse their fortunes, the upcoming fixtures present a favorable opportunity. The team's next match against Leicester City on Sunday marks the beginning of a stretch of four consecutive league games against teams currently situated in the bottom half of the table. This sequence of matches could provide City with the chance to accumulate valuable points and regain momentum.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has reaffirmed his commitment to restoring the team's former glory, despite a frustrating run of poor results. The Spaniard, who recently signed a two-year contract extension, emphasized that his desire to lead City back to the top remains unwavering.

Guardiola expressed his determination to turn things around, stating, “I will not give up. I want to do it. And with the situations that we have, we have to do it.” He acknowledged that everyone associated with the club shares his desire for success, saying, “Of course I want it. Everybody wants it.” Guardiola also highlighted his sense of responsibility, adding, “I don't want to disappoint my people, in terms of the club, in terms of the fans, or the people who love this club.”
