Ancelotti Hails Mbappe's Performance as Real Madrid Close Gap on Barcelona

Kylian Mbappe scored as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 win over Getafe, moving within one point of LaLiga leaders Barcelona.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti expressed his satisfaction with Kylian Mbappe's performance in their 2-0 victory over Getafe in LaLiga on Sunday. Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer in June, scored a crucial goal in the first half, but also missed several opportunities in the second half.

The French captain's strike against Getafe took his tally to eight goals in the league this season, making him Real Madrid's joint-top scorer alongside Vinicius Jr. Ancelotti was pleased with Mbappe's overall display, despite his missed chances, and will be hoping the 25-year-old continues to shine for the Spanish giants.

Kylian Mbappe bounced back from a subdued performance in Real Madrid's 2-0 Champions League loss to Liverpool on Wednesday with a spirited display against Getafe. Mbappe, who missed a penalty in the second half against Liverpool, scored his 10th goal of the season across all competitions in the 2-0 victory over Getafe.

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was pleased with Mbappe's performance, praising his activity, danger, and goal-scoring ability. “He was active, dangerous and scored a great goal which was important to control the rest of the game. He was active and that's what we want from him,” Ancelotti told reporters. The Italian coach also commended the Real Madrid fans for their support of Mbappe after his disappointing display at Anfield. “The fans understand better than anyone the moment of the team and the players. They supported Mbappe after Anfield because it was the right thing to do.”

Jude Bellingham converted a penalty and Kylian Mbappe added another goal before halftime as Real Madrid secured a 2-0 victory over 17th-placed Getafe. The win propelled the reigning champions to within touching distance of LaLiga leaders Barcelona.

The victory saw Real Madrid climb to second place in the table with 33 points from 14 matches, just one point behind rivals Barcelona, who have played a game more. Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti was relieved to see Mbappe score against Getafe, ending a mini goal drought. “Yes, a relief for everyone because it was a spectacular goal with fantastic execution,” Ancelotti said when asked if it was a relief for Mbappe to score. “Apart from that, his game was very good,” the Italian added, praising Mbappe's overall performance.

Real Madrid have been beset by an injury crisis, with several key players currently sidelined. Defenders David Alaba, Eder Militao, and Dani Carvajal are all out with anterior cruciate ligament injuries, while forward Vinicius Jr. and midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni are dealing with muscle and ankle problems, respectively. Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is the latest addition to the injury list, having sustained a hamstring injury during the team's loss to Liverpool.

Despite the numerous absences, Real Madrid managed to secure a 2-0 victory over Getafe. Jude Bellingham, who was replaced at halftime, is expected to be ready to return to action in a couple of days, according to coach Carlo Ancelotti. The Italian tactician expressed his satisfaction with the team's resilience in the face of adversity. “Despite the difficulties, which are many because of all the injuries we are having, we are fighting and struggling,” Ancelotti said. “We have returned to playing with concentration, spirit and attitude and that reassures me and gives me confidence. Little by little we will solve the problems, but in the meantime, we are fighting.”
