Former Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello appears before the EFCC to answer questions on alleged N80.2bn fraud. Get the latest updates on the investigation.
Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, has made an appearance before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with allegations of fund misappropriation. He was accompanied by his legal team when he visited the EFCC office on the morning of Tuesday, November 26.
Bello's appearance before the EFCC comes on the heels of a recent Supreme Court judgment that dismissed a challenge by states to the constitutionality of the anti-graft agency. This development has paved the way for the EFCC to continue its investigation into the allegations against Bello.
In a previous session on November 14, the EFCC had requested an adjournment of the case to November 27, citing the 30-day timeframe still in effect for the summons issued in the new case against the former governor. The EFCC's investigation into Bello's activities is ongoing, and details of the case are expected to emerge in due course.
