AZ Alkmaar secure impressive 3-1 win over Fenerbahce in Europa League, boosted by debut goals from Ro-Zangelo Daal and Kees Smit.

AZ Alkmaar secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce on Thursday.

Due to an injury crisis, manager Maarten Martens handed starting debuts to Jayden Addai and Dave Kwakman.

Fenerbahce dominated the first half, with Edin Dzeko testing Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduru and Allan Saint-Maximin squandering a prime opportunity.

At halftime, Martens introduced 20-year-old Ro-Zangelo Daal, who made an instant impact with a dream debut goal, tapping in Troy Parrott's cross.

Fenerbahce were awarded a penalty, but Youssef En-Nesyri's poor spot-kick was saved by Owusu-Oduru, only for En-Nesyri to equalize shortly after.

Kees Smit, an 18-year-old midfielder, turned the game around with a brilliant goal after coming off the bench.

Smit's backheel setup and individual effort restored AZ's lead, and he later provided a sensational through-ball assist for Denso Kasius's sealing goal.

AZ Alkmaar's 3-1 win propelled them to 17th in the table.
