Athletic Club extended their unbeaten run with a convincing 3-0 victory over Elfsborg in the UEFA Europa League. Nico Williams and Adama Boiro starred in the dominant win.

Athletic Club's impressive run continued as they thrashed Elfsborg 3-0 at San Mames, remaining unbeaten in the UEFA Europa League. This victory marked their 14th unbeaten game out of their last 15 matches in all competitions, with only one loss blemishing their record.

Athletic's confidence was evident from the start, following their recent impressive form, which included a win over rivals Sociedad last weekend. It was no surprise when they took the lead early on, courtesy of Adama Boiro's left-footed effort from a well-worked corner. The youngster, making only his second start this month, showcased his skills with a clinical finish.

Boiro's energetic performance continued with his overlapping runs, allowing star man Nico Williams to drift inside and cause chaos in the middle. The young left-back's marauding runs posed a constant threat to Elfsborg's defense, creating opportunities for Athletic to exploit.

With 25 minutes played, Nico Williams delivered a pinpoint chipped cross that found Benat Prados, who headed home the Basque side's second goal. This early double blow left the Swedes reeling, but they managed to regroup and prevent further damage before halftime.

The interval did little to alter the dynamics of the game, as Athletic continued to dominate proceedings after the restart. Their pressure eventually told, and they added a third goal less than 10 minutes into the second half. Adama Boiro was once again instrumental, providing a precise slide-rule pass to Gorka Guruzeta, who finished clinically with a first-time effort from inside the penalty area.

The third goal seemed to deflate Elfsborg, who had shown spirited resistance through 30 minutes of dogged defensive work. As the Swedish side's energy waned, Athletic assumed complete control, allowing Ernesto Valverde to make wholesale changes in the final minutes.

With Athletic cruising to victory, it became clear that they were always likely to secure a fourth consecutive Europa League win, a feat they have achieved only twice before. Notably, the last time they achieved this milestone, they went on to reach the final.
