A Kano-based chemist, Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, has been remanded in prison for allegedly raping a minor to death. The case has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice.
Mannir Ibrahim-Abdullahi, a 43-year-old man, has been remanded in jail by the Kano State High Court for allegedly raping a minor to death. The Kano government has charged him with culpable homicide and rape.
Justice Zuwaira Yusuf ordered his remand and adjourned the case until December 9 for hearing. According to the prosecution counsel, Lamido Abba-Sorondinki, Ibrahim-Abdullahi committed the offense on August 1 at Jaba Panisau Quarters, Kano.
The alleged crime occurred when the victim's father took her to Waraka Chemist, owned by Ibrahim-Abdullahi, for malaria treatment. This devastating incident has led to serious charges against the defendant, and the case will continue in December.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant committed a heinous crime, raping a minor to the point of death. Despite the severity of the charges, the defendant entered a plea of not guilty.
According to Prosecutor Abba-Sorondinki, the defendant's actions violate Sections 221 and 283 of the Penal Code, which specifically address rape and related offenses.
