Jude Bellingham opens up about the Ballon d'Or, his experience at Real Madrid, and his future plans in an exclusive interview
In a recent interview with TNT, Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham shared his thoughts on various topics, including the Ballon d'Or, his experience at Real Madrid, and his future plans. When asked about the Ballon d'Or, Bellingham humbly stated, “Ballon d'Or? Well, when we won the Champions League... that was our Ballon d'Or.”
Bellingham also expressed his opinion on who should have won the Ballon d'Or, saying, “In my opinion, the Ballon d'Or should have gone to Real Madrid. Particularly Vinicius.” He quickly added, “But that's my opinion and nothing on Rodri, he's a brilliant player... it's just about our season.” This statement highlights Bellingham's admiration for his teammate Vinicius and his belief in Real Madrid's collective efforts.
Regarding his goals for the season, Bellingham confidently stated, “I feel the smell again, so I'm going for that.” He reflected on his first season at Real Madrid, saying, “I arrived last summer, Real lost one of the best scorers in Benzema and collectively with Joselu and Brahim tried to cover that.” Bellingham acknowledged the challenge of filling the void left by Karim Benzema's departure but expressed optimism about the team's prospects with the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.
Bellingham also opened up about his personal struggles, particularly after the Euros. He admitted, “I lost my smile a little bit after the Euros... I think I was mistreated in comparison to what I contributed.” He felt that he was unfairly criticized and made a scapegoat, but emphasized that his experience at Real Madrid has helped him regain his confidence and smile.
When asked about the possibility of playing with his friend and England teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold, Bellingham diplomatically replied, “Would I love to play with Trent? I already do with England! He's a Liverpool player and we are here and I think it's disrespectful for me to speak about that.” He acknowledged their friendship but maintained a professional stance, saying, “He's a good mate, we'll see what happens.”
Bellingham was also questioned about the rumors surrounding his potential move to Liverpool. He unequivocally stated, “Future move to Liverpool? I think the next 10-15 years will be in white for me!” He expressed his commitment to Real Madrid, saying, “I'm very happy at Real Madrid.” Bellingham attributed his decision to join Real Madrid to the club's prestige and allure, saying, “When Real Madrid knock on the door, it shakes the whole house.” He downplayed the rumors about his potential move to Liverpool, stating, “My move to Liverpool was not as close as the media made out.”
Bellingham also reflected on his experience at the Euros, saying, “I felt I contributed in big moments but it felt like the whole world was coming down on me after the final.” He acknowledged that he faced personal challenges during the tournament, including his decision not to speak to the media. Bellingham stated, “A few things happened during the tournament, like I didn't speak to the media. I had personal things going on.”
