The conflict between Israel and Hamas/Hezbollah has resulted in significant human suffering and loss.
Four Thai nationals lost their lives and one was injured in a tragic rocket attack near the Israel-Lebanon border on November 1. The incident occurred close to the town of Metula, which has witnessed escalating conflict between Israeli forces and Hezbollah fighters. This attack brings the total number of Thai nationals killed in the region to at least 39 since the start of the Israel-Hamas conflict on October 7.
Thailand's Foreign Minister, Maris Sangiampongsa, expressed profound sadness over the loss and urged all parties to return to peaceful solutions to spare innocent civilians from further harm. He stated, “Thailand continues to strongly urge all parties to return to the path of peace, in the name of the innocent civilians gravely impacted by this prolonged and deepening conflict.”
The Thai government has been working to support its nationals in Israel, with approximately 30,000 Thai workers in the country, mostly employed in agricultural and labor-intensive roles. Many Thai workers have sought employment in Israel due to higher salaries compared to those available in Thailand.
Recent Incidents Involving Thai Nationals:
October 7: Hamas launched a large-scale assault in southern Israel, resulting in Thai casualties.
Early November: 23 Thai nationals held hostage were released during a brief truce.
Previous incidents: Two Thai nationals who had been taken captive died in Gaza earlier in the year.
The Thai government has established emergency contacts for its nationals in Israel and is closely monitoring the security situation. An evacuation advisory was issued for Thai nationals within high-risk zones, urging those who wish to leave to register for flights arranged in coordination with Israeli authorities.

In October 2023, Hamas militants launched an attack across the Israeli border, resulting in approximately 1,200 casualties, including 41 Thai nationals. During this attack, 30 Thai citizens were abducted, and unfortunately, six are still believed to be in captivity.
The aftermath of the attack saw Israel launch a counterstrike on Gaza, leading to devastating consequences for the Palestinian territory, with tens of thousands of fatalities.
Furthermore, Israel has also targeted Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based organization backed by Iran, in response to the escalating tensions.
