Imo witnesses double tragedy: Bus crash kills 20, market bombing claims 2



A devastating road accident occurred on Tuesday at Njaba Bridge, Njaba Local Government Area, Imo State, claiming 20 lives. The collision involved an 18-seater bus and a saloon car.


An eyewitness recounted: “We heard a loud sound from afar, and when we came close, we saw the bus and private Corolla in pieces. Everybody on board the bus and Corolla died. No human being was rescued.”


In a separate incident, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated at Orlu International Market, Imo State, on the same day, killing two people and injuring several others.


“The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, has deployed anti-Bomb operatives to the scene.


“Two persons who incidentally were the hoodlums were killed in the process of setting up an IED and in the process, it exploded.


“We have deployed operatives to the area. No cause for alarm. We ask all Imolites to report suspicious activities in their areas.”
