The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of popular crossdresser, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, at Murtala Muhammed International Airport while trying to leave the country. According to Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, Bobrisky's arrest is connected to claims he made in an audio conversation with a friend, released by activist Martins Otse, aka Very Dark Man, in October.

In the audio, Bobrisky allegedly claimed to have paid the EFCC N15 million to drop money laundering charges filed against him earlier this year. However, the EFCC denied these allegations and set up a committee to investigate the matter. The commission's Director of Public Affairs, Wilson Uwajaren, hinted that Bobrisky could face fresh charges if the allegations against the EFCC were false.

Bobrisky was stopped from boarding a flight to Amsterdam and subsequently detained by immigration officers at the airport. He took to Instagram to alert his followers about the arrest, claiming he sustained injuries during an altercation with the officers. The EFCC has transferred Bobrisky to Abuja for further interrogation, citing his failure to provide evidence to support his allegations.

Oyewale explained that Bobrisky was initially invited for questioning but failed to appear, prompting the EFCC to take custody of him. The agency seeks Bobrisky's cooperation in uncovering the truth behind the audio recording.

However, Bobrisky has vehemently denied being the individual heard in the audio tape, sparking controversy over the authenticity of the recording.
