Arne Slot's Perfect Start Continues as Liverpool Downs Bologna

“We knew Bologna would be tough, but we stayed focused...”

Liverpool defeats Bologna 2-0 in Champions League: Mohamed Salah's stunning goal seals win for Arne Slot's side, maintaining their perfect start.

Liverpool secured a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Bologna in the Champions League, thanks to goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah. The win marked Arne Slot's eighth triumph in nine games as Liverpool boss, continuing his impressive start.

First-Half Dominance

The hosts started strong, with Ryan Gravenberch's bustling run down the flank creating an early chance. His low cross found Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, but neither could capitalize. Mac Allister broke the deadlock in the 12th minute, converting Salah's precise low cross.

Bologna, competing in their first-ever Champions League campaign, showed resilience. Dan Ndoye hit the post, and Alisson saved well from Kacper Urbanski. The Italians capitalized on Trent Alexander-Arnold's error but couldn't capitalize.

Salah's Stellar Strike

After the break, Bologna continued to threaten, with Riccardo Orsolini and Urbanski testing Alisson. However, Salah sealed the win with his 49th Champions League goal, curling a stunning shot into the top corner in the 49th minute.

Arne Slot praised his team's determination, saying, “We showed great character and resilience.” Mohamed Salah added, “We knew Bologna would be tough, but we stayed focused.”

Bologna manager Vincenzo Italiano acknowledged his team's efforts, stating, “We created chances, but Liverpool's quality told.”
