Seun Kuti distances himself from VeryDarkMan, seeks amicable resolution in Femi Falana dispute - Latest Update.

Afrobeats singer Seun Kuti has issued an apology to renowned lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) regarding his involvement in the controversy surrounding self-proclaimed activist Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

Last month, Otse shared an audio recording in which Idris Okuneye, aka Bobrisky, a controversial crossdresser, made startling claims. Bobrisky alleged that Femi Falana and his son, Folarin Falana (aka Falz), a popular rapper, helped facilitate the dismissal of money laundering charges against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

According to the recording, Bobrisky claimed to have spoken with Falz while in prison and asserted that Falz and his father attempted to secure a presidential pardon for him in exchange for ₦10,000,000. The allegations sparked widespread controversy, prompting Seun Kuti's apology to Femi Falana.

It's worth noting that Falana and Falz have denied any involvement in the alleged deal, dismissing Bobrisky's claims as baseless and defamatory. The EFCC has also maintained its stance on the case, emphasizing that the charges against Bobrisky were dropped due to lack of evidence.

Femi Falana and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz), have threatened legal action against activist Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) unless he retracts his allegations and issues an apology. The controversy surrounds Bobrisky's claims of bribery, which Falana and Falz vehemently deny.

Initially, Seun Kuti publicly supported VeryDarkMan, stating that the activist had informed him about the recording before its release and that he had given his backing. However, in a surprising reversal, Kuti apologized to Falana on Instagram, acknowledging any offense caused by his actions.

Kuti clarified that his intention was not to tarnish Falana's reputation, emphasizing his respect for the human rights lawyer. The apology marks a significant shift in Kuti's stance, as he had previously endorsed VeryDarkMan's actions.

Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti, has further addressed his involvement in the controversy surrounding activist Vincent Otse (VeryDarkMan) and Femi Falana. Clarifying their relationship, Seun stated, “We are cool, but I don't control him. He doesn't listen.”

In an effort to distance himself from the fallout, Kuti emphasized his neutrality in the matter. He expressed his desire for an amicable resolution, apologizing to Falana for any offense caused by his initial support for VeryDarkMan.

Seun's apology came after Falana and his son, Folarin Falana (Falz), threatened legal action against VeryDarkMan unless he retracted his allegations and issued an apology. The controversy stems from Bobrisky's claims of bribery, which Falana and Falz vehemently deny.

“I am deeply sorry if that offended Uncle Femi. It is really not my intention. I will not, in any way, shape, or form, want to join anybody, even VDM, to fight Uncle Femi Falana. We have been through a lot. We have come a long way,” he said.

“The one thing that matters to me is the institutional lapses of EFCC taking money to drop the money laundering charge. I will never join issues with anybody to try and denigrate, insult, or defame. I've told people I've seen him work many cases.

“I've never seen Uncle Femi take money from those people he decided to help in any case. He's not that guy. I want to clarify some things about me and VDM's relationship, where I think many people get it twisted. We are cool, but I don't control VDM.

“And if you don't know yet, just by looking at VDM or his page, let me tell you now, he doesn't listen. You can't tell him anything. This is the issue of Falz and Bobrisky. When I said VDM told me, he told me with his mouth

“Everybody online now is saying he played Seun the tape. If I had told him not to talk about it, you guys would say Seun is trying to protect his family. I was not plotting, and I did not have any ulterior motive because I was the one who came out to say he told me.

“Else I would hide in the shadows. I did my best. If two people I take as younger brothers are having a spat, it is not in my place to take sides. I told him immediately to call Falz and try to seek it out within yourselves.

“Left to me, I would love to see an amicable ending. But if that is not the issue, I would not now come outside. publicly to start taking sides between them. That means I am putting fire.”
