Bologna secured their second win of the season, defeating Cagliari 2-0, thanks to goals from Riccardo Orsolini and Jens Odgaard. This loss ended Cagliari's seven-point streak from three rounds and added to Vincenzo Italiano's frustration, with only one win in 11 competitive games.

The match began with intense action. Within three minutes, Lukasz Skorupski made a crucial save, aided by the post, from Roberto Piccoli's deflected cross. Gianluca Gaetano's follow-up header was cleared off the line, and Juan Miranda's effort was blocked. Riccardo Orsolini capitalized on a defensive mistake but was denied by Simone Scuffet's fingertips.

Orsolini missed another opportunity from 10 yards out, but he eventually found the net with a powerful right-footed shot from a tight angle, assisted by Dan Ndoye. Before halftime, Piccoli tested Skorupski at the near post, but Bologna doubled their lead after the restart.

Jens Odgaard's left-footed shot from outside the area slipped past Simone Scuffet into the bottom corner. Cagliari pushed to get back in the game, but Skorupski made outstanding saves on Gianluca Gaetano's deflected drive and Razvan Marin's corner kick. He also bravely denied Mattia Felici.

Cagliari's loss was compounded by Antoine Makoumbou's red card, resulting in suspension. Jakub Jankto and Kingstone Mutandwa were already sidelined. Bologna's victory provides relief, but Michel Aebischer joins Martin Erlic, Oussama El Azzouzi, and Nicolò Cambiaghi on the injury list.
