The Lagos ports are bustling with activity as 15 vessels have berthed to discharge a range of essential products, including petrol. According to the Nigerian Ports Authority's (NPA) “Daily Shipping Position” released on Wednesday, these vessels carry diverse cargo.

Breakdown of Vessel Cargo:
  • Petrol: Multiple vessels
  • General Cargo: 3 vessels
  • Containers: 2 vessels (carrying various goods)
  •  Fresh Fish: 1 vessel
  •  Bulk Sugar: 1 vessel

The arrival of these vessels signals a boost in supply, potentially stabilizing prices and meeting consumer demands in Nigeria.

“The remaining five vessels will discharge ethanol, bulk gypsum, bulk clinker, feed corn and petrol,” it added.

“Six vessels are expected to berth at the Lagos ports with crude oil, petrol, containers and aviation fuel.

“The six expected vessels will berth at ENL Consortium Terminals, Apapa Bulk Terminal among other terminals in Lagos.”

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) reports that three additional vessels are awaiting berthing, carrying essential commodities:
  • Bulk Urea
  • Containers
  • Aviation Fuel

This development comes as Aliko Dangote, Chairman of Dangote Group, asserts that his refinery can meet Nigeria's entire domestic petrol demand, rendering imports unnecessary. The Dangote Refinery's capacity promises to revolutionize Nigeria's oil and gas landscape.
