Israel-Hezbollah Conflict Escalates: Airstrikes hit southern Beirut, raising tensions in the region.

An Israeli airstrike struck Nabatieh's municipal building on October 15, tragically killing Mayor Ahmed Kahil and five civilians. This incident occurred despite US concerns over escalating violence and potential all-out war in the region.

Israel's military targeted Hezbollah positions in Nabatieh, destroying underground infrastructures. Naval forces also struck southern Lebanon, collaborating with ground troops. Earlier, Israeli strikes hit Beirut's southern suburbs, prompting US disapproval.

Witnesses reported two explosions and smoke rising from different neighborhoods, following Israel's evacuation order for a specific building early Wednesday.

Israel has recently launched strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs, a known Hezbollah stronghold, often without prior warnings or issuing targeted alerts. These surprise attacks have raised concerns.

The Israeli military claims to have targeted an underground Hezbollah weapons cache in Dahiyeh, a suburb of southern Beirut. However, details on the impact and effectiveness of these strikes remain unclear.

“Prior to the strike, numerous steps were taken to mitigate the risk of harming civilians, including advancing warnings to the population in the area,” the Israeli military said.
