Two men, Ige Balogun & Sunday Ojo, face trial in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, for stealing 20 tubers of yam from a local farm.
Two men, Ige Balogun, 20, and Sunday Ojo, 24, appeared before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates' Court on Tuesday to face charges of stealing 20 tubers of yam. The defendants, who have no fixed addresses, pleaded not guilty to the crime.
According to Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole, the prosecutor, the alleged theft occurred on October 12 at 11:30 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. The stolen yams belonged to Balogun Ali's farm. Fortunately, guards caught the defendants and handed them over to the authorities.

Prosecutor Inspector Olasunkanmi Bamikole argued that the defendants' actions violated Section 302 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021. He requested a case adjournment to thoroughly review the file and gather witnesses.
In response, defense counsel Timi Omotosho urged the court to grant bail to his clients, assuring the court they wouldn't flee.
Chief Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N5,000 each with one surety in like sum. The case was then adjourned until November 21.
