EPL: Brentford Won Ipswich Town 4-3

Mbeumo's Late Strike Seals Thrilling Brentford Win Over Ipswich

“If we can show that belief and competitiveness every week, things can turn, and we can pick up points.”

Bryan Mbeumo scored a 96th-minute winner as Brentford came from two goals down to beat Ipswich Town 4-3 in a Premier League thriller, keeping the Bees unbeaten at home.

Brentford maintained their unbeaten home record in the Premier League with a dramatic 4-3 victory over Ipswich Town, thanks to Bryan Mbeumo's stunning 96th-minute winner. The Bees trailed 2-0 early on but rallied to take the lead, only for Ipswich substitute Liam Delap to equalize in the 86th minute.

Mbeumo's decisive goal, a left-footed cross that evaded everyone and found the bottom corner, sealed the win for Thomas Frank's side. This thrilling encounter followed Brentford's 5-3 win over Wolves earlier this month, cementing the Gtech Community Stadium's reputation for high-scoring matches.

Ipswich Town had taken control through Sam Szmodics and George Hirst's goals, but Yoane Wissa's 44th-minute strike and Harry Clarke's own goal leveled the score before halftime. Mbeumo converted a penalty in the 51st minute, awarded after Clarke brought down Keane Lewis-Potter, to put Brentford ahead.

Clarke's dismissal in the 69th minute, following a second yellow card for fouling Lewis-Potter, seemed to seal Ipswich's fate. However, Delap's clever finish from Leif Davis' cross made it 3-3 with four minutes remaining. Delap almost salvaged a point in stoppage time, but his effort crashed off the post.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank praised Ipswich's performance, admitting his side was “poor” in the first 40 minutes. “Big respect and praise to Ipswich. They were by far the better team,” Frank said.

Mbeumo's winner marked his seventh goal at home this season, with only Manchester City's Erling Haaland scoring more in the league. Ipswich boss Kieran McKenna hailed his team's resilience and character, saying, “If we can show that belief and competitiveness every week, things can turn, and we can pick up points.”

The defeat leaves Ipswich winless in the Premier League after nine games, having lost 10 points from winning positions this season.
