Tragedy struck on Saturday, October 27, when Taoreed Okanlawon, a staff member of Dangote Cement Industry, lost his life in a devastating road accident. The incident occurred in the early hours along the Dangote Roundabout in Ibesehe, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State.

An eyewitness recounted the horrific scene, stating that Okanlawon was riding a motorcycle when the driver hit a speed bump. The sudden impact caused Okanlawon to fall off, and unfortunately, he collided with the tire of an oncoming Dangote staff bus. The bus, in motion, tragically ran over him, resulting in fatal injuries.

The eyewitness account painted a vivid picture of the accident's sequence, highlighting the unexpected turn of events that led to Okanlawon's untimely demise.

An eyewitness recounted the tragic incident, saying, “An employee of Dangote died this morning. He was on a motorcycle when the motorcycle ran into a speed bump and he fell into the tyre of a Dangote staff bus. The bus ran over him and he died immediately.”

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, confirmed the incident. She stated that the driver of the staff bus fled the scene after the accident.

Odutola provided further details, saying, “The incident involved a Dangote staff bus from the Agrosac Packaging Department, bearing the registration number Lagos MUS 53 XS, driven by an unidentified driver who fled the scene.” Upon receiving the report, police officers from the Imasayi Division visited the accident scene.

“The second vehicle involved was a Bajaj Boxer motorcycle ridden by Achile Ejigho, a male staff member of the Mines Department at Dangote Cement Company, with a passenger, Taoreed Okanlawon, also of the same department.

“The accident happened when the motorcyclist attempted to overtake the bus and lost control after hitting a pothole, causing him to collide with the bus' front tyre. Unfortunately, the passenger, Taoreed Okanlawon, was run over and died instantly.”

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) stated that the body of the deceased was moved to a nearby mortuary, and the injured person was rushed to the Dangote Cement company's medical facility for treatment.

“The motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Jajo Hospital Dangote, where he is currently receiving treatment and is reportedly responding well.

“An investigation into the incident is ongoing,” Odutola concluded.
