Niger State: Civil Defence Spokesperson Stabbed, Robbed by Nine Armed Men

Ibrahim Muti, spokesperson for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), recently shared a harrowing experience where he was ambushed by nine armed robbers in Minna, Niger State. The incident occurred on Friday evening around 8 pm while Muti was heading home from work in a tricycle, specifically near the Federal Housing Estate in Gbeganu, Chanchaga Local Government Area.

Muti recounted that the robbers stabbed him twice in the stomach during the attack. Fortunately, he survived and shared his ordeal on Sunday, providing details of the traumatic event.

Here are key points about the incident:

Location: Federal Housing Estate, Gbeganu, Chanchaga Local Government Area, Minna, Niger State

Time: 8 pm, Friday evening

Number of attackers: Nine armed robbers

Injuries: Muti was stabbed twice in the stomach

Niger State, known as “The Power State,” is the largest Nigerian state by land area, covering 76,363 square kilometers. Despite its size, the state has experienced security concerns, including armed robberies and kidnappings. The NSCDC has been working to address these issues and maintain public safety.

According to Muti, the tricycle operator's ordeal began when he stopped to pick up two passengers. Unbeknownst to him, robbers lurking in nearby bushes saw an opportunity.

The robbers suddenly emerged, stabbing the operator with a knife and stealing his phone and valuables. However, their escape was swift when they discovered the operator's military uniform trousers, mistakenly assuming he was a soldier.

Muti revealed that the operator was rushed to the hospital for treatment and fortunate to be discharged Friday night.
