Bundesliga: Boniface Scores in Thrilling 2-2 Draw Between Leverkusen and Bremen

Victor Boniface makes remarkable return from traffic accident, scoring in Bayer Leverkusen's 2-2 Bundesliga draw with Werder Bremen, despite Lukas Hradecky's heroic saves.

Bayer Leverkusen and Werder Bremen played out a captivating 2-2 draw in the Bundesliga, with Victor Boniface making a stunning return from a traffic accident just six days prior.

Werder Bremen, seeking their first home goal this season, started strong but were thwarted by Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky, who denied Marvin Ducksch three times in the opening 19 minutes.

Boniface, who missed Leverkusen's midweek Champions League draw due to the accident, converted Jeremie Frimpong's cross to give Leverkusen the lead. He also drew an impressive save from Michael Zetterer early in the second half.

Bremen equalized through Ducksch's looping header with 15 minutes remaining, but Felix Agu's own goal restored Leverkusen's lead just three minutes later. Romano Schmid's 90th-minute rocket ensured a thrilling conclusion.

Leverkusen's failure to keep a clean sheet continues, with 14 goals conceded this term. They rise to third in the table, five points behind leaders RB Leipzig. Bremen remains ninth, extending their winless run against Leverkusen to 15 games.
