Halima Abubakar Takes Legal Action Against AGN President, Demands N30bn Compensation

Nollywood actress Halima Abubakar has taken a bold step against the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, demanding N30 billion in damages following her suspension announcement on his social media platform.

The suspension stemmed from allegations of Halima slandering her colleagues in the film industry, as reported. However, Halima countered that she was never formally contacted or given a chance to respond to these claims before the public announcement of her suspension.

In a strongly-worded letter dated October 20, 2024, Halima's legal representatives, P.D. Pius & Associates, accused the AGN President of intentionally damaging her reputation. The letter asserts that the President's actions were unjust and seeks redress.

Highlights:

  • Halima Abubakar demands N30 billion from AGN President
  • Suspension follows allegations of slander against Nollywood colleagues
  • Halima claims no prior contact or opportunity to respond
  • Letter from P.D. Pius & Associates accuses AGN President of reputational damage

“Our client has been battling health issues for years, and despite maintaining a professional relationship, you chose this delicate moment during her recovery to spread a false narrative. This has caused her emotional distress and harmed her.”

Lawyers for Halima Abubakar, P.D. Pius & Associates, have intensified their demands against Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) President, Emmanuel Rollas, over her suspension. In a letter, they insisted that Rollas:

  1. Immediately remove the “defamatory publication” from his Instagram page.
  2. Pay Halima N30 billion in damages for reputational harm.

The letter sternly warned:

Unless these demands are met within 7 days, we are instructed by our client to pursue appropriate legal action.”

This move follows Halima's suspension from the AGN, allegedly for slandering her colleagues in Nollywood.
