UCL: ‘Don't Limit My Potential Based on Odds’ — Vincent Kompany Fires Back at Critics [VIDEO]

Former Burnley coach Vincent Kompany addresses doubters, sharing his inspiring personal story of overcoming adversity. Kompany emphasizes resilience and self-belief in the face of criticism.

Vincent Kompany, the former Burnley manager, has hit back at critics who questioned his ability to manage Bayern Munich, citing his remarkable personal journey as proof of his determination and resilience.

Kompany's Powerful Response

In a recent post champions league match interview, Kompany shared his humble beginnings, born in Brussels to a Congolese refugee father. He highlighted the improbable odds he overcame to achieve success as a player:

“I was born in Brussels, my dad was a refugee who came from Congo. What are my chances of even playing in the Premier League, winning something as a player, playing for the national team? The odds were 0.000 something. Now I'm a coach.”

Kompany's message was clear: don't limit his potential based on what others think.

Kompany's experiences have instilled in him a strong mentality:

“Do you just stop believing in yourself and what you can achieve because of what other people say? The mentality is to keep going and in the end, if you fail, you fail, if you succeed, you succeed. But you can always become better.”

The former Manchester City captain remains unfazed by online criticism:

“Online, you can always find stuff, so I really don't take it personal.”

Although Kompany's tenure at Burnley ended in relegation to the Championship, he remains committed to learning and growth:

“The experience has made me stronger, and I'll use it to improve myself.”
