Justin Timberlake Resolves DUI Case with Reduced Charge

Timberlake Pleads Guilty, Gets DUI Break

“I try to hold myself to a very high standard for myself, and this was not that...”

Justin Timberlake's DUI case concludes with reduced charge, community service, and public safety announcement.

Justin Timberlake appeared in a New York State court on September 13, pleading guilty to a reduced traffic violation.

The pop star's arrest stemmed from a summer incident where he failed to stop at a stop sign and drifted out of his lane, prompting police to pull him over.

Timberlake, 43, accepted a plea deal, admitting to driving while his ability was impaired, a lesser charge than driving while intoxicated.

Edward Burke, Justin Timberlake's lawyer, welcomed the reduced charge, disputing allegations of intoxication during the arrest.

As part of the agreement, Timberlake's license remains temporarily revoked. The judge ordered 25-40 hours of community service at a non-profit and a public safety announcement.

Previously, on August 2, Timberlake pleaded not guilty to driving while intoxicated.

Court documents: Timberlake stopped by police, “his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, there was a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, he had difficulty focusing, was unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all field sobriety tests.”

The officer was told by the driver that he had one martini earlier and was asked to take a breathalyzer test, which he refused.

On Friday, September 13, after appearing in court, Justin Timberlake commented: “I try to hold myself to a very high standard for myself, and this was not that.”

He added, “this is a mistake that I made but I'm hoping that whoever's watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake. I know that I certainly have. And like I said even one drink. Don't get behind the wheel of a car.”
