EFL: Wycombe falls to Villa 2-1 in Carabao Cup third round

Wycombe Wanderers pushes Aston Villa to the limit, ultimately losing 2-1 in Carabao Cup third round.

Wycombe Wanderers indeed suffered a narrow 1-2 loss to Aston Villa in their Carabao Cup third-round match at Adams Park. The game was closely contested, with Villa's Emiliano Buendía scoring the opening goal in the 55th minute, followed by Jhon Durán's penalty in the 85th minute. Wycombe's Richard Kone managed to pull one back in the final seconds of the game, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome.

The match saw Villa dominate possession with 72%, but Wycombe put up a good fight, especially on the counter-attack. Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield expressed pride in his team's performance, despite the loss, and disputed the penalty call that led to Villa's second goal.

This win marks Aston Villa's advancement to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with the draw scheduled to take place after the conclusion of Liverpool vs West Ham.
