EFL: Manchester City's Winning Streak Continues with 2-1 Victory

Manchester City edges Watford 2-1 in Carabao Cup third round, advancing to fourth round.

Manchester City edged out Watford 2-1 in their Carabao Cup third-round match at the Etihad Stadium. Jeremy Doku opened the scoring for City just five minutes into the game, thanks to an under-hit back-pass from Watford defender Ryan Porteous. Matheus Nunes then doubled City's lead with a stunning left-footed strike in the 38th minute, marking his first goal for the club.

Despite a late push from Watford, City held on to secure their spot in the fourth round. Tom Ince scored a consolation goal for Watford in the 86th minute, but it wasn't enough to change the outcome. City dominated possession with 73% and outshot Watford 24-5.

Pep Guardiola was pleased with his team's performance, particularly Nunes', saying he's a “special player” with a unique quality. City will now face Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday, while Watford takes on Sunderland in the Championship.
