EFL: Tottenham Stun Coventry with Late Comeback in Carabao Cup

Tottenham Hotspur advance to Carabao Cup fourth round with 2-1 win over Coventry City, thanks to late goals from Djed Spence and Brennan Johnson.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou emphasized that his team's dramatic Carabao Cup win over Coventry City doesn't mask underlying issues, insisting “there is no quick fix” for their struggles.

Despite a lackluster performance, Tottenham secured a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Championship side Coventry City in the Carabao Cup third round. Brennan Johnson's stoppage-time winner sealed the win after Djed Spence equalized in the 88th minute.

Coventry dominated large periods, taking a deserved lead through Brandon Thomas-Asante's 63rd-minute strike. However, Tottenham's late surge turned the match around.

Postecoglou acknowledged his team's subpar display but highlighted their resilience. “We had to hang in there somehow, and we did. We weren't fluent or cohesive... One result doesn't change the fact that there's no easy or quick fix.”

The win ends Tottenham's two-match losing streak and secures their spot in the last-16 draw. Postecoglou hopes this performance will instill “a little bit of belief” in his team.
