Protesters Snub President's Request
Protests Defy Tinubu's Plea
Tinubu's appeal falls on Deaf ears...
Protesters divided on next steps after President Tinubu's address, with some seeking time to assess his proposals and others pushing to continue demonstrations, as #EndBadGovernance movement reaches day five.
For the fifth consecutive day, protesters have gathered at Ojota for the #EndBadGovernance demonstration, armed with banners, placards, and songs, passionately reiterating their demands. However, the turnout is noticeably low compared to previous days.
Despite President Bola Tinubu's national address on Sunday, August 4, urging organizers to halt protests nationwide, some demonstrators have refused to back down. The decision to suspend the protest has been met with resistance, with a faction of protesters calling for the demonstration to be put on hold until October 1, rather than ending it entirely.
Some protesters believe that President Bola Tinubu's national address warrants a brief pause to carefully evaluate his proposals and commitments, suggesting a temporary suspension of the demonstrations to assess the government's sincerity and follow-through.
However, a faction of protesters remains resolute, choosing to continue their occupation of the venue and press on with their demands, unwilling to relinquish the momentum and attention generated by the #EndBadGovernance movement.
