Tinubu Wins Re-election as ECOWAS Chairman

President Tinubu re-elected as ECOWAS Chairman for second term, vows to continue delivering democratic values.

President Bola Tinubu has been re-elected for a second one-year term as Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government. His first term was set to expire on July 9, 2024.

Tinubu's re-election was a unanimous decision made by his fellow Heads of Government at the 65th Ordinary Session of the Authority, held at the State House in Abuja on Sunday.

In his acceptance address, the President said, “I have accepted to continue to deliver on this service with the great men and women on this democratic journey, to serve our interest and build democratic values on the structure we inherited.”

President Tinubu assumed the chairmanship of the ECOWAS Authority at the 63rd Ordinary Session in July last year, held in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau's capital.
