Mohammed Bello-Koko replaced by Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as NPA MD, while Senator Adedayo Adeyeye appointed Chairman. President expects excellence and efficiency in port services.
Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho has been named President Bola Tinubu's replacement after Mohammed Bello-Koko was removed from his role as Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Furthermore, as per a statement released on Friday, July 12, Presidential spokesperson Chief Ajuri Ngelale said that the President has designated Senator Adedayo Adeyeye as the NPA Board's new Chairman.
“Before his appointment, he had served in various roles in the Nigerian Ports Authority as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff & Billing,” the statement reads in part.
The newly appointed Board Chairman, Senator Adeyeye, is a seasoned politician, journalist, and attorney.
In the past, he held the positions of Senator for the Ekiti South Senatorial District and Minister of State for Works.
“The President expects the new leadership of this pivotal agency to deploy excellence in the discharge of their duties to enable efficient port services and improved industry outcomes,” the statement added.
The Federal Government Agency known as NPA is in charge of managing and running Nigeria's ports. The two principal ports in Lagos State are the Tin Can Island Port Complex and the Lagos Port Complex. The Cross River State Calabar Port Complex. The Rivers Port Complex, Onne Port Complex, and Delta Ports in Warri, Delta State are all located in Rivers State.
