Kano State Government clarifies false social media claims linking Hisbah Board to LGBTQ, reaffirms Shariah law's prohibition on same-sex marriage and LGBTQ activities, and orders Hisbah to crack down on supporting organizations.
The Kano State Government has come out to clarify the situation in the wake of a widely shared video on social media that connected the Hisbah Board to LGBTQ people.
A man posing as a Hisbah official was seen in a social media video advocating for LGBTQ rights. However, the government has made it clear that Shariah law in the state forbids same-s3x marriage and anything associated with the LGBTQ community.
Therefore, under the pretense of combating gender imbalance, the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered Hisbah to attack organizations that support LGBTQ people.
Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander General of the Hisbah Board, briefed the media on the situation and stated that Hisbah had been at odds with homos3xual
The Commander General of the Hisbah Board, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, briefed the media on the situation. He said that although Hisbah can confirm that the person in the video is a member of its staff, he attended the workshop on his own and did not represent the body as a whole. Hisbah had been at odds with gay clubs in the state known as “Yan daudu.”
The commander general asked the populace to exercise caution over the actions of LGBTQ individuals, who are spreading their message and drawing young people into their clubs throughout the entire state.
Idris Ahmed, the chaotic Hisbah official, stated he didn't know what the LGBTQ community meant and asked the Hisbah Board to pardon him.
The commander general asked the people to be aware of the activities of LGBTQ people, who are spreading throughout the state and enticing young people into their clubs.
Hisbah Board member Idris Ahmed, who is facing controversy, has apologized to the board for not understanding the meaning of the LGBTQ community.
“Honestly all I know about this organization is they were into empowering women. And I attended their workshop several times, not knowing what they were actually promoting. In fact I didn't know the meaning of the word LGBTQ. I am apologizing to Hisbah for what I did,” he said.
