The reason I ceased to be critical of the federal government, Falz
Falz, Nigerian rapper and social activist, reveals why he's stopped criticizing the federal government. Known for his socially conscious songs and involvement in the #EndSARS movement, Falz explains his decision to shift focus from complaining to finding solutions and inspiring positive change.
The Nigerian rapper Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has explained why he has ceased criticizing the federal government.
Falz is well-known for penning songs that criticize social injustice and poor leadership. He is the son of prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana SAN. Among the songs are "Mr Yakubu," "Child of the World," "Wehdone Sir," and "Talk." Additionally, he participated in the October 2020 #EndSARS demonstration against police violence.
He stated, though, that he has stopped criticizing the administration because he does not wish to be associated with grievances.
“You will see that guy. But I do not want that guy to get to a point where he is seen as 'you guys just dey complain'. I do not want to ever get to that point. That is why I am taking a pause from just complaining. I want to rearrange how I am doing it,” he said.
“So how am I doing it? Am I doing it in a way that is just making everybody feel sad? We already know that we are in wàhálà. Why am I further soaking you in that emotion? I want to bring you out of that emotion in some way and that is what I am trying to do.”
The singer's rise to fame began in 2009, when he started making waves in the Nigerian music industry.
Falz has enjoyed a successful music career, garnering numerous awards and accolades. In addition to his rap prowess, he has also made a name for himself as a talented actor, showcasing his versatility in the entertainment industry.
