It's insensitive to purchase presidential jets while Nigerians are suffering, Obi tells FG

Peter Obi slams FG's plan to buy new jets amidst economic hardship, calls it 'unacceptable' & 'insensitive'.

The Labour Party's nominee for president in 2023, Peter Obi, has voiced his dissatisfaction of the Federal Government's plan to expand the Presidential fleet with additional aircraft.

This comes after Vice President Kashim Shettima and President Bola Tinubu were advised to buy new aircraft by the House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence.

Obi responded to the move on Monday by calling it “unacceptable” and “insensitive” to the financial struggles that Nigerians are facing in a post on his verified X handle.

Obi posted a message on his social media account saying, “It is unacceptable that the government is considering purchasing new presidential jets when Nigerians are wallowing in poverty.”

Obi's critique coincides with the nation's economic difficulties and the government's earlier this year decision to sell three aircraft from the Presidential Air Fleet.
