Abia State Governor Alex Otti increases bounty on killers of five soldiers to N30 million, vows to combat terrorism and crime in the state.

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has increased the bounty on the killers of five soldiers to N30 million, up from N25 million. He made the announcement on Friday at a meeting with senior military personnel, including the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, and the Commander of 14 Brigade Ohafia, Brigadier General O.O. Diya.

Governor Otti reiterated his commitment to combating terrorism, assassination, kidnapping, and other crimes in Abia State. He expressed gratitude to a state native living in the United States for contributing the additional N5 million to the bounty.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Hasan Abubakar, praised the Abia State Government for its support and pledged to continue working with other security agencies to ensure the safety of people and property in the country. The Nigeria Air Force is exploring potential cooperation and opportunities with Abia State, he added.

The Abia State Government had earlier condoled with the Chief of Army Staff, Taoreed Lagbaja, over the killing of five soldiers in the Aba area and offered a N25 million bounty for information leading to the capture of the perpetrators.

Gunmen invaded the military unit at Obikabia Junction, in the Ogbor Hill region, on Thursday of last week. They set fire to both the unit and a patrol van that was stationed there. It was said that some soldiers had managed to flee the gunmen's attack.
