Kogi assembly authorizes government request to train 1000 hunters in counterterrorism

Kogi State Assembly approves recruitment of 1,050 hunters to combat insecurity, amid severe shortage of security personnel. Hunters to be paid by local government councils, in a bid to boost security and protect lives and property.

The state government's plea to enlist more than a thousand hunters to combat insecurity in the state has been granted by the Kogi State House Assembly.

It is stated that having so many hunters in favor will improve property and life protection and deter other criminal activity.

Alhaji Umar Aliyu, the assembly speaker, read the letter to the house during Wednesday's plenary session, informing them of their previous decision to hire the hunters due to the growing security threats around the state.

He claimed that the state was severely short on security personnel and that the government's proposal was a positive step in the right direction.

He noted that the government's proposal was a positive step, as there is a severe lack of security personnel in the state.

Following a voice vote, the lawmakers overwhelmingly accepted the request to hire 1,050 hunters to strengthen Kogi state's security forces.

The House next ordered that the salaries of the hunters be paid by the Caretaker Chairmen of the state's 21 local government councils, after approving the government's proposal.
