Euro 2024: Spain Maintains Unbeaten Streak with Dominant Display

Albania Eliminated as Spain Advances to Knockout Stages

Spain maintains perfect record at Euro 2024 with win over Albania, eliminating them from the competition. England, France, and Netherlands also advance to knockout stages despite finishing in bottom 16.

Spain preserved their unblemished record at Euro 2024 by overcoming Albania, thereby eliminating them from the competition. This outcome, in conjunction with other group results, ensured that England, France, and the Netherlands would conclude the group stage in the bottom 16 and advance to the knockout stages.

Ferran Torres, currently a Barcelona player, scored the opening goal for Spain in the 13th minute, finishing low into the net after Dani Olmo's assist. David Raya, Spain's goalkeeper, made an impressive save to deny Kristjan Asllani's powerful effort from 25 yards out, preserving Spain's advantage.

Despite Albania's endeavors, they were unable to find an equalizer and finished at the bottom of Group B. Spain's Coach Luis de la Fuente made ten changes to his starting lineup, having already secured top spot in the group, and ensured every outfield player in the 26-man squad participated in the first three games.

Spain had historically dominated their encounters with Albania, and this match was no exception. They created opportunities from the outset, with Jesus Navas and Mikel Merino coming close before Torres' opening goal. Spain had further chances to extend their lead but failed to capitalize.

Albania's defeat, combined with Italy's draw with Croatia, confirmed their elimination from the competition. England, France, and the Netherlands, who had already earned four points from two games, were guaranteed to advance to the round of 16 as one of the top four third-place finishers in the group stage.

Only two teams, Portugal and Spain, have won every game at Euro 2024 thus far. Portugal will face Georgia in their final group match on Wednesday, while Spain will encounter a third-place finisher from one of Groups A, D, E, or F in the last 16 on Sunday in Cologne.

Ferran Torres won man of the match.
