De Laurentiis Slams PSG Over Kvaratskhelia Interest: “It's Illegal”
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis accuses PSG of making unauthorized approaches to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, calling it “illegal” and threatening to take action.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has fired a shot at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) over their reported interest in Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. De Laurentiis slammed PSG for making proposals to the player without authorization from Napoli, calling it “illegal” and hinting at taking action.
De Laurentiis's comments come amid rumors that PSG has been courting Kvaratskhelia, who has been impressive for Napoli since joining in 2022. The Napoli president expressed his frustration, stating, “There are clubs that make proposals to players with no authorization from the club, it's illegal.”
He specifically targeted PSG, whose president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, also heads the European Club Association (ECA). De Laurentiis questioned how a club with such leadership could engage in such behavior, saying, “In that club, there's the president of ECA, but I'm not even surprised about those things in football. I'm always correct.”
De Laurentiis warned that Napoli could “call them back to order” if necessary, indicating a potential complaint to UEFA or FIFA. His strong stance aims to protect Napoli's interests and Kvaratskhelia's contractual obligations.
This public rebuke highlights the tensions between clubs in the transfer market and the need for respect and protocol in player negotiations. De Laurentiis's assertive response sends a clear message to PSG and other clubs: Napoli will not tolerate unauthorized approaches to their players.
