Grammy Award-winning singer Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy, has shattered the record for the highest-grossing concert in the US by an African musician.
The ‘I Told Them’ tour, which took place at the Capital One Arena in Washington on March 7, 2024, brought in $1.725 million, according to Touring Data (published on Friday).
With this new record, Burna Boy has surpassed his own previous benchmark for the highest-grossing concert by an African artist, which he set at the TD Garden in Boston.

The ‘African Giant’ hitmaker was recognized as the African musician that earned the most money from a single performance in 2023.
The lead hit from his debut album “L.I.F.E.”, “Like to Party,” launched Burna Boy—born Damini Ogulu—to popularity in 2013.
Burna Boy won the 2021 Grammy Awards in the “Best World Music Album” category with his fifth album, “Twice As Tall.”
The musician, who was born in Port Harcourt, was listed as one of Time Magazine's 100 most influential people for 2024 in April.
He received commendation as well by the Canadian Senate for his contribution to their entertainment department.
