Saudi Bank Supports Adamawa Varsity's Solar Ambitions with $1m Grant

$1 million is approved by Saudi Bank for the Adamawa Varsity Solar Project

A $1 million donation from Saudi EXIM Bank will be used to establish a solar power system at Adamawa State University (ADSU), Mubi.

The revelation was made yesterday in Yola, the state capital, during a meeting with deputy governor Kaletapwa Farauta in her office by Mr. Uzoh Ifeanyi, the regional representative for Nigeria and Africa at the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals International.

According to Ifeanyi, the ADSU was chosen for the project in association with the National Universities Commission (NUC) to also instruct forty young people on the setup and upkeep of the solar system. These individuals would be given a monthly stipend for a period of six months.

He stated that as a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had already been signed with BME firm for the supply and the project's August start, the main office in Korea would oversee the project.

Renovations at primary health centers and stadiums, respectively, will benefit Rwanda and Kenya, according to the group conducting feasibility studies.

Farauta responded by informing the group that the government is eager to improve the state's standing in terms of education.

Former vice chancellor Farauta claimed that the insurgency had previously caused some damage to the university.

She asked UN representatives to consider other important areas in which the organization needs more help.

Dr. Joseph Bisong, the executive secretary of NUC, praised the intervention for its goal of elevating the organization.
