Lagos police Arrest 10 Individuals For Harvesting Organs For Sale
THE Lagos State Police Command has made a huge breakthrough in apprehending a gang of alleged ritualists accused of murdering people and harvesting their body parts for sale across multiple states.
Among the suspects arrested are a lady labeled as an Osun priestess, a community head, an Ifa priest, an Islamic preacher, and a practitioner of traditional medicine.
The command's spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests on Friday, revealing that the suspects, who were operating in one of Lagos' extreme divisions, were detained based on intelligence inputs from concerned members of the public.
According to Hundeyin, the gang's ringleader, Ademola Akinlosotu, 33, originally admitted to exhuming corpses from cemeteries and selling their parts to ritualists.
However, he later acknowledged to killing people and selling their fresh body parts to clients on demand.
Akinlosotu revealed that he and other gang members would carry out the killings before delivering the harvested body parts to a 52-year-old man known as Ahmed Wahab, alias Alfa Bororo.
Wahab operated from Badagry in Lagos State and Ogun State, catering to consumers looking for such gruesome items.
The suspect said that pricing for harvested body parts fluctuated, with fresh human heads fetching between N45,000 and N50,000, dried human heads selling for N30,000 to N35,000, hearts at N70,000, and hands at N50,000.
Akinlosotu also admitted to being responsible for the murders of two people, one of whom was a friend he met over social media.
Furthermore, Akinlosotu said that a traditional authority in Badagry had ordered him to murder his problematic son.
However, the planned murder coincided with a visit from a friend he met online, who later became a victim.
Hundeyin stated that different human body parts were retrieved as exhibits from the suspects, and that investigations are ongoing to catch others involved in the illegal trade.
Once the investigations are completed, the suspects will face charges in court.
