Cynthia Morgan in Police Custody for Alleged Cyberstalking
Cynthia Morgan, a former singer, is detained by police for cyberstalking the crown prince of Benin.
According to reports, Cynthia Morgan, a well-known singer, was detained by men from the Edo State Police Command for cyberstalking Ezelekhae Ewuare, the prince of Benin.
The singer was reported to have been arrested on Monday after it was claimed that she had been cyberstalking the prince since 2020 and claimed to have seen him in dreams.
A petition signed by the prince, titled “Defamation, cyberstalking and harassment of Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare by Cynthia,” was sent on May 4, 2024.
Ikponmwenosa Morgan was forwarded to CP Funsho Adegboye, the state commissioner of police.
It read, “We act for Prince Ezelekhae Ewuare, hereinafter referred to as 'Our Client, and on whose instructions we now write you concerning the above matter in the manner appearing hereunder.
“We are informed by our client that one Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan (also known online as “lamcmglobal” and “trulymadrina”) has been desperately trying to contact him against his wish.
“The said Cynthia Ikponmwenosa Morgan has gone as far as physically trailing our client to his workplace, and when she saw she was not getting the attention she so desperately seeks, she resorted to publishing lies, slurry, and other defamatory statements against him on her Instagram story sometime in 2020 and has continued such publications till date.
“The same offending material was picked up and republished by different blogs and news outlets all around the country. In the said publications, she has called our client a wicked prince who was bewitching and oppressing her in her dreams. We attach herewith pictures of the online posts and the various online blogs that picked it up.”
The petition claims that the Prince chose the most honorable course of action by giving the firm instructions to draft a solicitor's letter cautioning her to refrain from such additional activities, instead than confronting her or having an online conversation about the matter.
The petition added, “Rather than take heed, she continued to harass and stalk our client online, much to his annoyance and against his wish. Our client, despite his high pedigree, is also a Nigerian who is entitled to his constitutionally guaranteed right to privacy like any other citizen. Our client just wants to enjoy his right to privacy and be left alone from whatever crisis of the mind the said Cynthia Morgan may be going through.”
The prince went on to say that Morgan had been attempting to get in touch with him via a number of phone numbers, which were promptly shut down, and that he is now trying to get her to stop.
In a another video, the singer admitted that she didn't know where the prince resided and that she was never intimate with him.
Ewuare, meantime, responded to the accusations on his Instagram account and declared that he would be suing Morgan.
He alluded to ongoing talks with his legal counsel, suggesting a legal struggle to come.
In reaction to the possibility of legal action, Morgan stuck to her position. She apologized for being very private and guarding someone she now finds objectionable.
She disclosed plans for a formal interview and pictures from her first official date with the Prince in 2018, determined to present her side of the story.
