We Are Holding Dialogue Over The Reopening Of Borders — Customs
Adewale Adeniyi, Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller-general |
THE comptroller-general (CG) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Adewale Adeniyi, reports that Nigeria is making headway in the talks to reopen its borders with the Niger and Benin republics.
Following the national single window (NSW) project's launch on Tuesday, Adeniyi had a conversation with the State House correspondents in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu had already launched the NSW initiative to increase trade within Nigeria.
NSW is an electronic gateway that provides an integrated platform for all agencies and participants in import and export procedures.
The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) is where it is headquartered.
Adeniyi continued, saying that he spent the weekend working with his counterpart in the Benin Republic to adjust the schedule for reopening the borders.
Adeniyi emphasized the importance of effectively managing the nation's borders in conjunction with the single window initiative's introduction.
The head of customs commended Tinubu for introducing the one window idea and demonstrating his dedication to the Nigerian economy.
Prior to the reopening of the border with the Niger Republic in March, NCS requested that inhabitants and stakeholders of the Illela border village in Sokoto follow the rules.
The NCS comptroller overseeing the Sokoto/Zamfara area command, Kamal Muhammad, paid a visit to the Illela border post.
Muhammad had stated that the reopening of the country's borders could result from the Economic Community of West African States' (ECOWAS) decision to remove the sanctions against the Niger Republic.
