The Ondo APC gubernatorial primary election committee will be led by Kogi governor Usman Ododo.

Usman Ododo, the governor of Kogi, will lead the Ondo APC's primary election committee for governor.

The All Progressive Congress, or APC, has named Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo as the chairman of the seven-member committee that will oversee the party's Ondo Governorship primary poll on Saturday, April 20.

The committee is anticipated to hold direct primary elections in each of the state's eighteen local government districts, in order to select the party's candidate for the November 2024 Ondo governorship election.

Sulaiman Arugungu, the party's national organizing secretary, will officially open the committee, which includes a five-member Primary Election Appeal Committee led by former Bauchi Governor Mohammed Abubakar.

Ovie Omo-Agege, a former deputy president of the Senate, will head the Primary Election Committee as secretary.

Sen. Lekan Mustapha, Hon. Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, Chief Meg Duru, Dr. Sani Danjuma, former Oyo Deputy Governor Liliola Oladokun, and Chief Meg Duru are the other members.

Chief Obiocha Israel is the secretary of the five-member Mohammed Abubakar Appeal Committee, which also includes Jamilu Isiyiaka Gwamna, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbo, and Chief Onyeka Okafor.

The first candidate to be approved by the APC screening committee ahead of the governorship primary was Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the governor of Ondo State.

Aiyedatiwa had been embroiled in an alleged academic certificate forgery that has threatened his chances of clinching the party ticket in the past few weeks.

Oladotun Hassan, an attorney, filed a petition with the Police Service Commission and Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun regarding a purported attempt by a high-ranking official to falsify the findings of an ongoing investigation into the governor's academic credentials. An allegation that the legal firm of Aiyedatiwa has since refuted.

Aiyedatiwa, meantime, declared that the issue has been resolved after being cleared by the APC screening committee on Friday, April 12.
